Style or Size
1 = 2 7/8 in*
1 = 3 1/16 in*
2 = 3 3/8 in
3 = 3 3/4 in
A = 2 7/16 in
B = 3 3/8 in
C = 4 1/8 in
* there are two sizes in the size 1 reel

The Reel Foot could be Stamped or on the early Keyless could be Machined Brass

The Line guide would be Oval or Bow Shaped

The Mainspring could be Exposed or Enclosed in an aluminum drum or barrel, this could be in two half's screwed together or one piece with a cap that wouldn't be visible without removing the drum.

   
   
   

The Yawman & Erbe reel can show a lot of different aspects of its evolution from reel to reel, with these differences and the numbers a manufacturing period may be determined. Early line guides are almost flat on the underside and the loop is soldered to the guide base, If you notice any difference put it down.
