Notes:

The Size 1 Keyless is the most common of the keyless reels, they came in

Hard Rubber

Brass

Nickel Plated Brass

Bronze

and

Aluminum

They also had exposed and enclosed mainsprings, the earliest inclosed mainspring 1892 or 93 had a mainspring cover without the seam in the center, this was not used for long. Also the diameter if the reel was 2 7/8 with exposed spring and 3 1/16 diameter with the enclosed mainspring.

These reels usually have a marking on them but not always, the early ones have a Roman Numeral scratched inside, some have all the parts marked this way, about the time the Key Wind reel came out all reels were marked by stamping a number inside next to or close to the hole to attach the line, I have seen one reel marked with both roman numeral and numbers. I think the roman numerals were employee identification possibly the reels were piece work.

Yawman & Erbe had the tools to do all the stamping and other processes required to make the reels, they even made stamped parts for other companies. The tools could have been the goal for Yawman & Erbe when they purchased the Loomis Plumb company.
