The "click" in this reel is of the Pawl and spring type.
NOTE;The star shaped nut on the arbor, or center post, has a left hand thread and is very fragile, I use a 7/16 socket to hold the nut when removing.

I have had a couple that would not come off, if it wont turn easily stop!

To remove the arbor from the reel it has to be withdrawn from the spring, this needs to be done to take the mainspring off the bottom plate. I usually hold the squair part of the arbor in a padded vice, only use enough pressure to hold the arbor, turn the spring housing untill the tab on the drum aligns with the slots in the mainspring housing and the plate bearing and pull it out.
